I was barely arriving at the reception of the Sevilla Urbany hostel when I could listen a group of canadian girls talking about how incredible had been their first "flamenco experience" in the city. They were laughing because arriving at La Carboneria had been a treasure hunt by the narrow streets of the Santa Cruz district, but getting the hostel after some glasses of sangria had been the bigger challenge...
The place has no banner or flag at the entrance and when you cross the little door you'll find a friendly and small room with a chimney and a piano (a nice place to have a drink on the wintertime). Then on the left side you'll see a larger room with big wooden tables that you probably will have to share with other people (good opportunity to meet new friends) and a stage, where the flamenco concerts take place. There is also a nice terrace that's perfect for the summer nights.
My first time there I got surprised on how authentic the concert was, with no microphones or any kind of production. Just a singer / guitar player and a dancer. This was enough to feel the power of this music and the energy of the dancer, who made the stage literaly shakes with her steps. After the main concert they invited some local people to show what it takes to have the Andalusian blood. Definitely a true flamenco experience in Sevilla.
To get there, ask the hostel reception, take a map and follow the people :)
